Community Associate & Event Specialist

We're looking for someone with strong writing and interpersonal skills to work closely with existing Organization members and event participants to ensure a positive experience. The Community Associate & Event Specialist will take care of all in-person, email, and telephone customer service and generalized office duties, but also be heavily involved in Organization event planning details. They will build event websites and work closely with the General Manager and Race Directors to price out and purchase event supplies, and work with local municipalities to obtain permits. A passion for nonprofit work and/or running are a plus.
Responsibilities include:
Working closely with Club members, Board members, vendors, and sponsors to maintain good relationships.
Community/donor outreach for volunteers, in-kind donations, and door prizes.
Assistance with press releases.
Preparation of event tablets and electronics
Maintenance of the organization’s online store
Office mailing of letters, awards, purchases, etc.
Work closely with the General Manager, Social Media Strategist, and Footnotes Editor to ensure that all written Organization copy has a cohesive tone and voice.
You must have the ability to work independently, have a strong sense of organization, can work with many moving parts, and be excellent at time management since you will be working with strict deadlines.
Other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience in an administrative position such as receptionist, administrative assistant, customer service, customer retention, etc. Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, and email programs such as Constant Contact or MailChimp, and experience with user-friendly website editing platforms such as Squarespace are a must. You should have a welcoming attitude toward feedback and constructive criticism, and the skills to revise content based upon that feedback. You will also have collaborative skills, enthusiasm, and positive energy to contribute to a team. This is a small office environment, but you must be able to adjust to bursts of high-traffic weeks surrounding an event.
